After a seemingly random flood of casting news, the “Green Lantern” project has ultimately decided on Ryan Reynolds to play Hal Jordan in the 2011 film [Hollywood Reporter].
Becoming the second person after Halle Berry to switch camps between Marvel and DC, this will be Reynolds third comic franchise in which he has starred. He made his first crack with Blade: Trinity and more recently co-starred as Deadpool in this summer’s lackluster X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Hmm… the Deadpool spinoff also has a release in 2011; should make for interesting summer.
Reynolds is a solid comedic actor with enough talent to be a serious lead when needed. Although he has had some spotty role choices in his career, he’s always been an actor I could rely on to give at least a decent performance.
He can definitely pull off both Green Lantern and Deadpool characters. I just hope the performances do not blend between projects.

Reynold’s turn in the Wolverine movie is the very definition of wasted potential. Deadpool could have been a major highlight, but instead they sewed his damn mouth shut. Hopefully they’ll take the leash off for the Deadpool movie.
As far as Green Lantern, I’ve never been a fan, so meh. Don’t care as much.
