First Modern Warfare 2 DLC Coming Mar 30 *UPDATED*

Is Modern Warfare 2 getting a tad bit stale?  Looks like the developers are releasing a bit of an addition come the end of March.

New Cop Out Red Band Trailer

Based on the first trailer released for Cop Out, I was kind of scared.  It looked like Kevin Smith might have lost it.  However, if you’ve seen any Smith movie, you know that censorship is a cruel mistress to his style.

The new red band trailer (meaning NSFW) winds up a little better.  Doesn’t look like it’ll be one of his best films, but it could easily be a hilarious matinee or rental.  Besides, Bruce Willis doing dick jokes can’t be all that bad.

Catch the video after the jump.

New Inception Trailer

A few months ago, we posted a teaser trailer for Chris Nolan’s (Dark Knight, The Prestige) next film Inception.  Tease was definitely the right term since no one knew what the hell was happening.  Now, we have a new trailer.  I’m not sure we’re any better (but it does look amazing).

New Kick-Ass, Hit-Girl Trailer

Seemingly running in the shadow of next summer’s Iron Man 2, there are a few comic book movie adaptations that aren’t that well-known (or even heard of, for that matter).  Matthew Vaughn’s version of Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass is one of said films.  Besides some great buzz from the graphic footage shown during this year’s Comic-Con, generally no mainstream media has been revealed except for some posters.

Now, we’re getting a good stream of video, most recently a character trailer for Hit-Girl, a prepubescent storm of killing potential.  Millar’s books are conceptually a “What if?” scenario where an everyday high schooler dresses up, calls himself Kick-Ass, and tries to be a superhero (think Batman without money, gadgetry, or basically any sort of fighting skills).  Hit-Girl, on the other hand, is definitely a person he wants on his side.  You’ll see why.

Catch the character trailer (I can’t stress the NSFW enough) and some older clips after the jump.

Iron Man 2 Trailer

Seems Apple has put up the first trailer for next summer’s blockbuster Iron Man 2.  It is not as awe-inspiring as its predecessor’s trailer, but you can never go wrong with a little War Machine.

Check out the trailer after the jump.

Hulu Becomes Gifted, Motiony

astonishing-x-men-1-100k

Following in the success of iTunes’ Watchmen Motion Comic, it appears Hulu will be releasing at least the first arc of Joss Whedon’s run on the Astonishing X-Men in the same manner.  The “Gifted” arc, which haphazardly was chopped up and mixed into the X3 movie, introduces a ‘cure’ for mutation.  But at least with this, you may actually care about what happens.

This is probably the best I’ve seen done with the motion comic concept.  Everything is pretty fluid, even with the 3d effect being a tad jarring.

Hit the jump for the first chapter.

Captain Tightpants Returns to Television

I have no idea how I missed this until this morning, but apparently Nathan Fillion will be “reprising” his signature role of Mal Reynolds from Firefly/Serenity.  Granted, I use quotations since it’ll actually be a Halloween homage, but why argue semantics?

In the Halloween episode of Fillion’s new series Castle, his titular role will be dressed as the most famous of Browncoats.  I can’t say I like Castle for the procedural aspect of the show, but the dialog is totally worth the watch.  Add this to the mix, and I can’t wait for this ep.

Episode will air October 26 on ABC.

Hit the jump for a pic of the getup.

GTTV Interviews: Modern Warfare II

Modern-Warfare-2-GamesCom-2009-Co-Op-Preview

Since Josh is some sort of evil dictator, he’s making me (ME of all people) post this series of interviews conducted by Gametrailers on various elements of the upcoming Modern Warfare II.  It covers some info about the game’s single and multiplayer aspects, but mainly reveals elements to the series’ new Spec Ops mode.

A very intriguing 21 minutes, if I do say so myself.  Hit the jump for video.

Sunday Night Warfare *UPDATE*

modern-warfare-2-20090526011249654_640w

*UPDATE – Trailer has been released on the following websites (All sites are slow Sunday night.  See what works for you):

* Infinity Ward
* Gametrailers
* Youtube

Since Sundays are usually lackluster for news, or even completely void of it, I figured I’d throw out an FYI in case you missed it.

A new trailer for Modern Warfare 2 will air sometime during the Chargers-Steelers game tonight (NBC – 8:20 ET kickoff).  I post this since Infinity Ward is always pretty hush-hush and to the point about their games; so every chance they throw at us to see some content is pretty sweet.

Now, the real question is for those who don’t normally watch football: will you watch the game to see the trailer?  I personally can’t stand watching football unless it’s for a party with food and drunken imbeciles.  But I have a suspicion I’ll at least leave on the TV in the background.

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day Trailer

Although the movie basically went straight to the bargain bin upon dvd release, Boondock Saints somehow developed a rather fierce cult following.  Mixing Tarantino-like editing with smartass humor, the Irish hitman brothers earned their way to a sequel.  Much of the cast and crew is returning (which is surprising since at least one character who is coming back died during the first go around).

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day hits theaters this October 30th.

Oh, and since this is a red-band trailer, a few choice words are NSFW.

Cinema Rundown – Inglourious Basterds

inglourious-basterds_pic2_m

Quentin Tarantino, love or hate him, definitely knows film.  If you’ve ever heard him talk, the man is a literal encyclopedia of cinema.  To prove (or flaunt) it, film culture itself plays at least some role in each of his movies.  Inglourious Basterds takes his adoration and pushes it to a new level.  This is a film that revels in everything that makes cinema both an art form and entertainment; it’s a film made for film’s sake.  Oh, and there’s exploding testicles, too.  Fun for the whole family!

New Bioshock Director?

bioshock11It was looking like the Bioshock movie, based on the 2K Games creation and one of the best games of 2007, was falling apart before it could even get started.  With a ballooning budget reaching upwards of $160 million, pre-production was shutdown, and subsequently the original director Gore Verbinski had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

It seems that possibly one of the problems has been solved.

Dollhouse – Epitaph One

dollhouseFox’s Dollhouse finished its first season about 3 months ago and was released on disc last week.  After a rocky start, the series seemed to gain some momentum when Joss Whedon directed a few episodes and Alan Tudyk gave an utterly stellar performance as Alpha.  However, I’m pretty sure everyone that had been following the series was still taken by surprise when Fox actually renewed the show for its second season.  When I say everyone, that includes the creators of the show.  Why else would they make Epitaph One?
