David Armand is a comedian who likes to dance. His interpretive dance style hit fairly big a few years ago with his rendition of Torn by Natalie Imbruglia. It seems a BBC sketch comedy show took a shine to him and has a bit where he ‘charades’ his way through songs, making a couple guests wearing noise-cancelling headphones guess the song just from his movements. This Queen song is by far the best.

How to React to Battlefield 3 Coming Out

Since the decline in Call of Duty quality (and oddly massive rise in popularity), I kind of lost hope in a multiplayer shooter that I could really latch onto again. That was until I heard about the resurgence of the main Battlefield series with BF3. A resurgence primarily directed at PC gamers.

It’s good to see a developer try to push some boundaries on the PC gaming front. I understand the PC gaming market isn’t nearly as large as the console market, but the flexibility of PC hardware has always been conducive to technological advancement. Now that developers are pushing a lot harder toward console games, the industry has become highly stagnant, and it seems it’ll be that way for the foreseeable future. I mean when Crysis, a four-year-old game, is STILL the best looking video game out there, something is wrong.

So, if you’re like me, feel free to poke fun at yourself with Tim Colwill’s comic below. And although I truly do feel that way, I think I’m more upset at how most of the gaming community is content with same old, same old games.

10 Myths About Introverts

Carl King over at carlkingcreative.com has been reading. In particular he has read a book entitled The Introvert Advantage (How To Thrive in an Extrovert World). On his site he has compiled a list of misconceptions about introverts based on the book and his own experiences.

Being an introvert myself, his list really hits home and describes our quarter of the populace pretty well.

Myth #1 – Introverts don’t like to talk.
This is not true. Introverts just don’t talk unless they have something to say. They hate small talk. Get an introvert talking about something they are interested in, and they won’t shut up for days.

Myth #2 – Introverts are shy.
Shyness has nothing to do with being an Introvert. Introverts are not necessarily afraid of people. What they need is a reason to interact. They don’t interact for the sake of interacting. If you want to talk to an Introvert, just start talking. Don’t worry about being polite.

To read the rest of his list, go here.

After a massive barrage of “pick me!” requests, Google has decided on their flagship city to test their new ultra high-speed internet network: Kansas City, KS.

What this means is by sometime early 2012, Google plans to role out a FiOS network within the city that will allow for up to a gigabit/second speed (or around 125 MB/s if you aren’t talking IP jargon). And, yes, that’s massive; especially when you consider the average broadband connection in the US. Basically, at that speed, a whole cd-quality album could be downloaded in less than second (or based on today’s music, more like three whole albums).

So, what is Google’s end goal? Essentially, Google isn’t looking to become a dominant IP. Kansas City and the future test cities will be just that: tests. Google wants to tryout new bandwidth heavy applications, like video streaming or other intense programs along those lines. They also want to use this as a wake-up call to phone and cable providers to administer their own upgrades, which was what I personally was hoping for when Google first announced this project. Seeing how most US cities are technologically stagnant due to semi-monopolies with the IPs, I feel that only good can come from Google’s initiative with this project.

To see the Chicago Sun-Times press release, go here.

When you live in a college dorm in this day and age (well, at least if you’re a guy), you can’t help but be bombarded with random music, videos, images, or whatever else people find on the internet. Many of these items you forget about, and many more you wish you could. But there’s always a few that linger positively in your memory.

So when I was scrolling through some recent CollegeHumor videos, I couldn’t help but smile when I saw a very familiar, yet highly different, image of a older woman kissing toward a drill.

Although taking a slightly odder route than the original video, this is for the Wiley guys.

On Monday, March 14, a video starring Casey, an overweight kid who has been “bullied his whole school life,” was released showing him getting teased/punched by a much smaller boy named Ritchard. Almost instantly it became an internet meme, dubbing Casey the “Zangief kid” for a rather obvious reason. I’m not positive if all the details of this are legit, but I’m fairly certain the video can stand on its own.

The embedded version below is actually a remix using the voices of the Scout and Heavy from Team Fortress 2. Much better than the vanilla version, in my opinion.
Sock Dye is a fairly addictive game where you’re presented with a random array of colored socks with the goal of changing them all to a singular color. Starting with the upper-left sock, you choose a color to switch to, and all like-colored, adjacent socks are changed as well. With each level completed an extra color is thrown into the mix.

Just remember: you only get 25 moves. So watch out for stragglers.

It seems fans of the upcoming X-Men: First Class on its official Facebook page were treated today to an unlisted Youtube video. That video happens to be the first official trailer for the film.

Given the decline of the X-Men (or should I say Wolverine and His Band of Merry Men) films, I’m not overly excited for this prequel. But perhaps going back to the series’ 60s roots will prove to be a good cure, starting fresh with a new cast yet building on the relationship between Charles and Erik. I mean, seriously, it can’t be worse than X-Men Origins: Wolverine … could it? …

A new interview and gameplay demo has been posted for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings containing footage of a new side quest.

Gamespot has posted a new interview and gameplay demo for CD Projekt’s The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. It contains footage of a side quest involving Geralt’s investigation into the cause of death of some NPCs (at least it’s not the same prison break footage seen everywhere else). Senior Producer of Cd Projekt Tomasz Gop talks about the rebuilt combat system as well as the overall tweaks made to the game’s predecessor. He also touches on the updated menu layouts and alchemy elements.

The Witcher is easily one of the best RPGs out there, twisting mature themes throughout a dark fantasy realm. It has a fantastic story told through some very realized characters. And one of the best aspects is its decision ambiguity; there were multiple instances where I really had to think about my choices, ultimately not having a good/bad, right/wrong scenario.

CD Projekt may be taking a risk building the sequel from the ground up, but it’s looking good so far. And just remember: this demo footage is Pre-Beta. It’s fairly raw graphically, and the video quality doesn’t do the game any favors either.

Last night's episode of Community turns out to be a comedic love letter to fantasy geeks everywhere.

Parody: there’s a fine line between well-executed humor and poking fun for poking’s sake. Community has always been on the side of the former, and last night’s episode was no different.

Pretty obviously from the episode title, the main focus of the episode is DnD. But the writers don’t stop there; they delve into the general world of fantasy, paying homage to quite a few other staples of the genre. “Advanced Dungeons and Dragons” turns out to be a comedic love letter to fantasy geeks everywhere.

The general synopsis of the episode takes the weekly conundrum slightly away from the study group and focuses more on the ordeal of secondary character Neil, or Fat Neil. That nickname has driven Neil to a seriously depressed state. Jeff convinces the rest of the group to partake in a game of DnD (with Abed as Dungeon Master, of course) to try and lift Neil’s spirit. Unbeknown to all, however, Pierce has his eyes on another prize; not inviting him to join them may have been their biggest mistake.

Community, although having solid continuity arcs, really shines best in this theme episodes. It stretches its creativity (and for that matter originality) and allows for something not necessarily canon, but uniquely hilarious. Honestly, for as much as I love last season’s “Modern Warfare” episode, this may be my favorite episode yet. And that’s coming from a guy who doesn’t really enjoy playing Dungeons & Dragons.

Catch the episode on NBC or Hulu now!

Touted as the "true successor to Battlefield 2", it seems the fans of the series before the Bad Company games have some hope of a return to form.

This morning, EA and DICE have officially released info on their next Battlefield game. Touted as the “true successor to Battlefield 2“, it seems the fans of the series before the Bad Company games have some hope of a return to form.

What exactly does that entail? The announcement isn’t too detailed, but gamers can expect full singleplayer and co-op experiences, along with the return of such features as jets and the ability to prone (snipers rejoice while medics can’t wait to dolphin dive again). But the icing on the cake? DICE is bringing back 64-player multiplayer. Well, for the PC at least. I am actually sorry about this for console gamers; 32v32 matches made the series what is was back in the day.

Oh, man, guys. In geekspective’s collective absence, a MAJOR disaster has threatened to pull apart one of today’s greatest musical talents: Paramore.

Back in December, Josh and Zac officially announced their departures from the band (those bitches!). They said it was because they just weren’t having fun, but I have to believe that they’re just jealous of Hayley’s fame and talent. She’s, like, the greatest vocalist in decades. I’d easily list her among the pinnacle of singers, right there with the likes of Bon Jovi and Huey Lewis. If only those Farro brothers knew what they were leaving. Like, rock is totally Paramore’s thing. No one has rocked harder. And those guys just don’t understand.

I understand though, Hayley! I love you! Break on through this rap crap these younglings are listening to. You can’t spell crap without a keyboard (or maybe at least some vocal chords).

Teen angst forever!

P.S. – No, the band is not ending. They have stand-ins currently touring with them. Apparently, they will also have new music in 2011, although the band may stylistically change with whatever new additions they do get.

Attack of the Show added Candace Bailey as its new, official co-host. But was she the best choice?

January 11, 2011 marked another milestone in geek entertainment: Attack of the Show revamped itself… again. New set design, new segments. Oh, and a new host, Candace Bailey.

For those in the dark about the show, AOTS is a live TV show on the G4 network shown every week night. They are the self-proclaimed “TV’s only source for all the stuff you care about, from the coolest viral videos to the hottest new gadgets, comics and movies.”

Candace has had a month to settle into the show and create a rapport with co-host Kevin Pereira. How has she done so far? Was she the right choice for the show? What lead to her snagging the gig anyway?

During last year’s Comic-Con, in an increasingly rare appearance, Olivia Munn more or less officially announced her departure from the co-host reins of Attack of the Show. To the dismay of many a Munn fanboy, AOTS soon after began its search for the next able-bodied (more literal than figurative) female to follow. A somewhat wide array of potentials were brought onto the show as trial-by-fire contestants, thrown in front of the camera and expected to shine. Some of the hopefuls included AOTS alums as well as more or less unknowns.

Thinking back on this “interview” period of guest co-hosts, I began to wonder why Candace was chosen in the first place. To me (and apparently to quite a few insultingly vocal people) she really was toward the back of the pack during this phase. Most of the others seemed not only more comfortable with the subject matter of the show, but also with merely being on a show that never really takes itself seriously.

Now, a few of the hopefuls were clearly just guests (eg. Morgan Webb, already host of G4′s X-Play, and Jessica Chobot, host of… well, everything IGN) and a few were what I thought were just eye candy (eg. Sara Underwood, who subsequently landed a continued role during The Feed segment of AOTS). Whittling down the list in this way left two potentials in my eyes: Candace and Alison Haislip.

Normally, I try to stay away from herd mentality, but I have to agree with the many that I thought Alison would take this position with ease. Ms. Haislip has been a correspondent on AOTS since 2007. Not only has she done most of the pre-taped interviews and a good chunk of misc segments, she has co-hosted with Kevin a multitude of times. And in glorious fashion I might add. She is just a natural for the show: her comedic timing is good, her back-and-forth with Kevin is hugely entertaining, and she KNOWS geek entertainment.

So why isn’t Alison hosting? My best guess is that the producers didn’t want to lose such a key field correspondent. Alison has stated before that she never turned down the co-host job, because it was never offered in the first place.

Which brings us back to Candace. I don’t want to belittle her victory; she had to do something right to not only make it on the show in the first place, but ultimately be asked to take the job. The G4 execs had to see something in her. She has also grown a fairly solid following of fans.

But at this juncture, I don’t see it. To me, she just doesn’t seem at ease standing at the podium with Kevin. I understand where some of her uneasiness comes from, though. She is new to the hosting gig, let alone for a live TV show. Mix in the fact that she isn’t that highly knowledgeable of geek culture, and the hosting ability becomes that much more of a challenge. But looking at the previous host’s run, love her or hate her, Olivia owned her persona. Much like Candace, Olivia never really knew the ins-and-outs of the products she reviewed, but she added a flair to the show that drastically reduced the amount that viewers cared. Which is why I hope the best for Candace. I think maybe all she needs is time; time to get comfortable with the show and Kevin; time to iron out her own flair.

If not, watch out for the lynch mob, Ms. Bailey.

Now for the real question: why isn’t Alison Brie on the show more? (She should be everywhere)

Is Modern Warfare 2 getting a tad bit stale? Looks like the developers are releasing a bit of an addition come the end of March.

Is Modern Warfare 2 getting a tad bit stale? Looks like the developers are releasing a bit of an addition come the end of March.

No word yet on what exactly is to be included in the DLC, but it seems fairly obvious that the 360 will be getting at least a map pack. It has been rumored that other updates, like additional co-op missions, may be released also.

Click the pic above to be redirected to the announcement site.

**UPDATE**

According to a Major Nelson interview with Robert Bowling, seems some final details and a price have been attached to the Stimulus Package DLC.

1200MP…. 1200….. That is correct. For a map pack release of 3 new maps and 2 community favorites from Modern Warfare (Crash and Overgrown), you’ll be expected to shell out $15. Indeed.

Catch the entire interview with map descriptions and a little Infinity Ward PR here.
