Our friends over at The Chaos Grenade have posted a rather thoughtful article regarding the Apple iPad. The article takes a look at one viable, if not superior, alternative.
If touch-screen interfaces float your boat, then take a look…. here.
Well, it’s February 9th and 2k Marin’s sequel to the 2007 Game of the Year, Bioshock, has been released. How has Rapture fared during the decade between titles? What’s all this about multiplayer? How have the mechanics changed? Will I ever look at the box art the same ever again? Well, having picked up the game at midnight and spent several hours with it, I’ll be happy to answer most of these questions…after the jump.

The realm of musical puzzle games is inhabited by few games intrepid enough to meld quick wits and adaptive audio. Last week, another title graced this hallowed land with its presence on the XBox Live Arcade. Chime, developed by Zoe Mode and published by the non-profit publisher OneBigGame, is now available for the paltry sum of 400 MS points.
Find out more after the jump.

After several false starts, the newest DLC for Bioware’s Dragon Age has finally been released on XBox 360 and PC with no word on PS3 yet. Thanks to some poor planning on Bioware’s behalf, the content dropped on January 29th, a mere 3 days after Mass Effect 2. Thanks to these overlapping releases, I’m willing to bet that I wasn’t the only Dragon Age fan that was blissfully unaware of the new content. I’ll let you know if it’s worth the five dollar price tag… after the jump.

As we’ve already discussed on the weekly podcast, I’ve been playing a fair amount of Bayonetta. It’s been one week now since I received the title through Gamefly, and my excitement has not yet waned. Granted, my Bayonetta time has been heavily perforated by Mass Effect 2 time, but at least 8 hours have been logged in the former. With that, I feel comfortable to share with you my opinions of the game thus far…

The strategy genre has always wrestled with complexity versus accessibility. W! Games seeks to craft a more user-friendly strategy game with their upcoming title Greed Corp for PSN and XBox Live Arcade.
“The mechanics should be transparent, the winning strategy should not,” say the devs. According to their blog, the developers seek to keep a high level of strategic depth while giving the player fewer actions to memorize.
Greed Corp will be the first in a series of titles existing within the rich, industrial world of Mistbound. Today marks the creation of the Mistbound Community Site, where one may sign up for a chance to receive the game for free upon its release. Also released to the public on this date is a rather stunning intro trailer into this bold frontier of Mistbound, which may be witnessed after the jump.

When Capcom released Mega Man 9, the title met with great success and resonated with the Mega Man fanbase, offering up some of the most challenging gameplay that the series has seen. It seems that the fans’ cries of joy did not fall on deaf ears as Capcom has just announced that Mega Man 10 will be released in March of 2010. The title will be released for digital download on XBox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, and Nintendo WiiWare. This time around, a mysterious robotic flu known as “Roboenza” is spreading across the globe, and it’s up to the blue bomber himself to battle the rampaging bots and uncover the secrets behind the virus. Could it be Wily’s up to his old tricks? This anxious gamer can’t wait to find out.
Capcom has just recently announced a new title to be released for the XBox Live Arcade and Playstation Network in April of 2010. Final Fight Double Impact will include the hit beat ‘em up title Final Fight, as well as the side-scrolling dungeon fantasy Magic Sword. Both titles will be spit-shined with the same HD filter treatment that we’ve seen in the re-release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Expect the title to be online capable and maintain the same visual polish that one has come to expect from Capcom’s re-releases. It’s refreshing to see a company that understands the relevancy of the past and comprehends the value of such cherished past titles. Here’s hoping a future re-release of Captain Commando isn’t too far off.
When Valve announced that they would be releasing a sequel to their smash hit Left 4 Dead so rapidly after the original, many were skeptical. Some took it as a sign of the end times and boycotted Valve’s decision to “screw over” the folk who had just purchased the first. Others saw it as a great boon to the community to receive a second entry in the franchise with such haste. With the sequel’s recent release, we can finally see if it was worth all of the fuss.

Let’s face facts. Despite the rising number of female gamers, the majority of gamers are male, and the industry is not ashamed to use ample, barely concealed mammary glands to appeal to that demographic. Today’s rumble pits two femme fatales from the industry against each other. They both share the same name, wrangle dark forces with their feminine wiles, and follow the least oppressive dress codes imaginable. Hailing from Dark Stalkers and Dragon Age, this week we choose our winners for Morrigan Mayhem.

Last week, we announced the advent of Dragon Age Journeys: The Deep Roads. Crafted by the newly founded EA2D production crew, Journeys is a flash-based Strategy RPG that can be played in your web browser. I don’t usually tend to scrutinize Flash games too much, but having spent several hours with this title, it is clear to see that this is not your average Flash game. Read on to find out how the game makes the grade and how it has shifted the paradigm of Flash-based entertainment.

We here at Geekspective love us some fighting games, if you haven’t noticed. Personally, I am quite partial to Capcom’s classic fighters. From Hadoukens to Hyper Combos, they seem to have the art of fighting games down to a science. It is for this reason that I have been keeping an eye on their upcoming Wii-exclusive Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. Just today, they have released the box art for the January 26th title. We share this gorgeous art with you….now.

Remember the Magic The Gathering Jones Soda from a while back? It would seem the experiment was successful, considering the Seattle-based soda upstarts have just released a limited edition Dungeons and Dragons beverage set. The set includes such flavors as Eldritch Blast, Dwarven Draught, and Potion of Healing. For $10.99 + shipping, a six-pack collector’s set can be yours to drink or perch high above your mantle with that replica of Frostmourne you hold dear.
With the impending release of Bioware’s hotly anticipated new RPG Dragon Age: Origins, EA has been hard at work to release a browser-based flash game to expand upon the story of Origins. The result is Dragon Age Journeys, a three part installment by EA’s newest studio, EA2D. A crack team of flash author greats has been assembled for the project staff, including Daniel Stradwick, Adam Phillips, and Andrew Sega. The Deep Roads is part one of the three part saga that has just been released, and even includes unlockable equipment for Origins upon completion of certain achievements and tasks.
Developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts, Dead Space:Extraction is a new on-rails shooter set before the events of last year’s survival horror title, Dead Space. Released for the Nintendo Wii, the game utilizes the wiimote and nunchuk controller to allow players to gun down and dismember alien zombies from a new point of view. I recently got my hands on the title and gave it a run-through, but does this shooter make the cut?
