Art Fail Friday
I hate Twilight so much. It in itself is fail, but the fan art I’ve seen surpasses its inspiration. With the release of the New Moon movie, there has been an explosion of even more terrible art work.

Let’s face facts. Despite the rising number of female gamers, the majority of gamers are male, and the industry is not ashamed to use ample, barely concealed mammary glands to appeal to that demographic. Today’s rumble pits two femme fatales from the industry against each other. They both share the same name, wrangle dark forces with their feminine wiles, and follow the least oppressive dress codes imaginable. Hailing from Dark Stalkers and Dragon Age, this week we choose our winners for Morrigan Mayhem.

I got a blast from the past this weekend when I went to Cole and Hannah’s place, and they had their Pac-Man arcade machine up and running. I learned that I still suck at Pac-Man. But you know what doesn’t suck? This crocheted Pac-Man scarf.

Rejoice, for I have returned! What with school, work, and life it’s been hard to get myself to search for sweet geek crafts.
With my meager free time, I scoured etsy for something cool to share. Lo and behold, a clock worthy to grace any geek’s desk.

Protagonists. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and creeds. The most successful of these creatures seem to be the strong and silent type. From Link onward, a majority of our protagonists have been mute or near-mute with fairly generic personalities. This can be used to great effect or detriment on behalf of the creator, depending on the quality of writing to flesh out the character. Two of the most recently successful of these silent heroes shall be our subjects for today’s Thursday Throwdown.
Check out this sweet Left 4 Dead mobile I found on etsy.

Pretty sweet, right? SaltyandSweet have a wide variety of other mobiles, including a TF2 mobile, as well.
Today’s art fail exposes sad fangirl artwork of Repo! the Genetic Opera. If you don’t know what Repo is, well, then maybe you’re not an 8th grade goth girl or … Dylan.
Throughout history, heroes have had sidekicks. These stalwart individuals are not afraid to get their hands dirty for minimal recognition or to take the blame when things go faulty. Today, two such sidekicks do battle for supremacy. Our candidates are Urdnot Wrex from Mass Effect, and Fawkes, the super mutant from Fallout 3. Both are certainly no stranger to heavy weapons, and neither are too pleasant to look at. Who shall reign supreme in this week’s Thursday Throwdown?
To the left is a handmade ceramic pendant featuring a handpainted microscope. I must say, this is pretty sweet. Made by surly on etsy where you can find more of their unique pendants, like this flying sphagetti monster one.

Levels, classes, and often-oversized swords doth not an RPG make. Playing a role, or role-playing if you will, is what makes an RPG an RPG.
Do you role-play?
Hoorah for replicated items from video games. I give to you a creepy mannequin wearing the hat of Parappa the Rapper. Handmade by Rabbhats on etsy.

In response to Halo 3: ODST’s release, I give to you the collection of fail I have gathered this week. I had a hard time finding things that were absolute fail, as many who are art-challenged won’t even attempt to draw something as difficult as ODST armor. However, some people are relentless.
In the recent release Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, the story follows loosely the events of the Marvel Civil War timeline. For the uninitiated, the Civil War involves the government passing the Superhuman Registration Act which would require all super-powered individuals to register and answer directly to the US government. Captain America and a sizable force of heroes rebel against the act and fight to get it repealed, pursued by the pro-registration forces led by billionaire playboy Iron Man. So, for this week’s Thursday Throwdown, I ask you the community to choose your side and state your reasoning. Healthy debate is encouraged.

Today marks the launch of the semi-expansion, semi-brand new experience for Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST. And with it comes a brand new way to play with Firefight mode.
Firefight is essentially Left 4 Dead meets Halo, and is a very similar multi-player co-op survival experience. Which brings me to today’s question:
What do you think of this recent focus on co-op survival game-types?
Send greetings the geek way with these notecards.
Each print is slightly different making it a unique set of stationery.
