The fourth season of the The Venture Brothers started last Sunday, October 18th. Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick continue on the story right where it left off, and it is by far the best season opening of The Venture Brothers yet.
If you were like me, you had no idea until it was too late. However, you can catch the episode at adultswim.com. The rest of the first half of the season will be shown every Sunday at midnight for the next seven weeks. The second half of the season will not be shown until spring of next year. So enjoy these eight episodes for as long as you can; I know I will be watching the first episode many times due to its genius.

I have no idea how I missed this until this morning, but apparently Nathan Fillion will be “reprising” his signature role of Mal Reynolds from Firefly/Serenity. Granted, I use quotations since it’ll actually be a Halloween homage, but why argue semantics?
In the Halloween episode of Fillion’s new series Castle, his titular role will be dressed as the most famous of Browncoats. I can’t say I like Castle for the procedural aspect of the show, but the dialog is totally worth the watch. Add this to the mix, and I can’t wait for this ep.
Episode will air October 26 on ABC.
Hit the jump for a pic of the getup.

*UPDATE – Trailer has been released on the following websites (All sites are slow Sunday night. See what works for you):
* Infinity Ward
* Gametrailers
* Youtube
Since Sundays are usually lackluster for news, or even completely void of it, I figured I’d throw out an FYI in case you missed it.
A new trailer for Modern Warfare 2 will air sometime during the Chargers-Steelers game tonight (NBC – 8:20 ET kickoff). I post this since Infinity Ward is always pretty hush-hush and to the point about their games; so every chance they throw at us to see some content is pretty sweet.
Now, the real question is for those who don’t normally watch football: will you watch the game to see the trailer? I personally can’t stand watching football unless it’s for a party with food and drunken imbeciles. But I have a suspicion I’ll at least leave on the TV in the background.

Fox’s Dollhouse finished its first season about 3 months ago and was released on disc last week. After a rocky start, the series seemed to gain some momentum when Joss Whedon directed a few episodes and Alan Tudyk gave an utterly stellar performance as Alpha. However, I’m pretty sure everyone that had been following the series was still taken by surprise when Fox actually renewed the show for its second season. When I say everyone, that includes the creators of the show. Why else would they make Epitaph One?

Caprica, the spinoff and prequel of Battlestar Galactica, has just received a premiere date of January 22, 2010 at 9 pm. The show will center around the lives of two families (who might be familiar to BSG lovers) living in the twelve colonies before the Cylon war. The twelve colonies comprise the human world oft-mentioned in Battlestar Galactica, a civilization at its peak in technology, social constructs, and economic prosperity.

Sean Bean (pictured above-left) has been casted to play Lord Eddard Stark (pictured above-right) in the upcoming HBO adaptation of the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin.
Bean, best known to geeks for his work as Boromir in the Academy-Award winning Lord of the Rings movies, will join a thus-far stellar cast including Peter Dinklage, Mark Addy Jack Gleeson, Harry Lloyd, and the fresh, new face of Kit Harington to begin filming the pilot episode of the mini-series soon.
I, for one, can’t imagine a better pick for Neddard.
Today we have an Olympian Prince versus a Warrior Princess with a twist. This time it is just the actors duking it out for supremacy.

It has been over a year since I had heard that Sony and Columbia Pictures wanted to make a “Smurfs” movie. A part of me believed that somehow the idea had faded into obscurity after the studios execs realized what they were doing. Sadly, we are not that lucky.
Slated for a December of 2010 release, Variety reports that the Smurfs have signed a Papa. Raja Gosnell, director of such classics as Beverly Hills Chihuahua, will be bringing the ’80s hit TV show to the silver screen.
Following in the wake of live-action/animated fare like Garfield and Alvin and the Chipmunks, it is a pretty decent bet that ‘quality’ won’t be a term tagged to this project. My only hope is that exorbitant amounts of time and digital care go into creating Smurfette. Mmm… smurfy.
