Well, it’s February 9th and 2k Marin’s sequel to the 2007 Game of the Year, Bioshock, has been released. How has Rapture fared during the decade between titles? What’s all this about multiplayer? How have the mechanics changed? Will I ever look at the box art the same ever again? Well, having picked up the game at midnight and spent several hours with it, I’ll be happy to answer most of these questions…after the jump.

As we’ve already discussed on the weekly podcast, I’ve been playing a fair amount of Bayonetta. It’s been one week now since I received the title through Gamefly, and my excitement has not yet waned. Granted, my Bayonetta time has been heavily perforated by Mass Effect 2 time, but at least 8 hours have been logged in the former. With that, I feel comfortable to share with you my opinions of the game thus far…

It’s been almost three years since the last Armored Core game release on console. There has been a couple of re-releases of Armored Core games on the PSP but no games on the console front. Thankfully, From Software recently announced its fourteenth installment of the series Armored Core 5, which will be for the PS3 and Xbox360.
You can check out the announcement video and robot/explosion gallery after the break.

The strategy genre has always wrestled with complexity versus accessibility. W! Games seeks to craft a more user-friendly strategy game with their upcoming title Greed Corp for PSN and XBox Live Arcade.
“The mechanics should be transparent, the winning strategy should not,” say the devs. According to their blog, the developers seek to keep a high level of strategic depth while giving the player fewer actions to memorize.
Greed Corp will be the first in a series of titles existing within the rich, industrial world of Mistbound. Today marks the creation of the Mistbound Community Site, where one may sign up for a chance to receive the game for free upon its release. Also released to the public on this date is a rather stunning intro trailer into this bold frontier of Mistbound, which may be witnessed after the jump.

The new year is almost upon us, and with that, new 2010 games will be here soon. One of the games on the horizon is Square Enix’s new MMO Final Fantasy XIV. However, like most MMOs these days, they will be having a beta test phase before official launch. You can participate in the beta if you have a PC and go here to apply. You can sign up to beta for the PS3, but you will have to wait longer to get the possible opportunity. Also remember don’t apply more than once, or you will be removed from the chance to beta. No one wants to miss out on seeing mithras in new high-def graphics.

With the success of Capcom’s Mega Man 9, it was no surprise that there would be another. From the trailer below you can see Mega Man 10 will follow suite and have the classic 8-bit look. You will also be able to play as Proto Man, utilize his shield, and of course sport his awesome cape.
Check out the trailer and more after the jump.

When Capcom released Mega Man 9, the title met with great success and resonated with the Mega Man fanbase, offering up some of the most challenging gameplay that the series has seen. It seems that the fans’ cries of joy did not fall on deaf ears as Capcom has just announced that Mega Man 10 will be released in March of 2010. The title will be released for digital download on XBox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, and Nintendo WiiWare. This time around, a mysterious robotic flu known as “Roboenza” is spreading across the globe, and it’s up to the blue bomber himself to battle the rampaging bots and uncover the secrets behind the virus. Could it be Wily’s up to his old tricks? This anxious gamer can’t wait to find out.
Capcom has just recently announced a new title to be released for the XBox Live Arcade and Playstation Network in April of 2010. Final Fight Double Impact will include the hit beat ‘em up title Final Fight, as well as the side-scrolling dungeon fantasy Magic Sword. Both titles will be spit-shined with the same HD filter treatment that we’ve seen in the re-release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Expect the title to be online capable and maintain the same visual polish that one has come to expect from Capcom’s re-releases. It’s refreshing to see a company that understands the relevancy of the past and comprehends the value of such cherished past titles. Here’s hoping a future re-release of Captain Commando isn’t too far off.

Hot off the heels of the announcement that Atlus will be publishing 3D Dot Game Heroes comes the launch trailer of the game. It looks very familiar to the some old school action-adventure games; Zelda comes to mind. The graphics and music of the video already make me want to have this in my PS3 now. Check out the retro, nostalgia-inducing video after the jump.

It is always a pain to find someone that lives near you to play the same PSP game via adhoc. It is also awkward to sit in the same room looking at two different small screens. But luckily Sony has released the adhocParty system will be releasing the adhocParty system “soon” to help reduce those awkward moments.
The adhocParty software will allow PSP owners who own a PS3 to connect to other PSP owners over the Playstation Network to play PSP games that have an adhoc mode. It will also allow the players to talk to each other with the PlayStation Eye or Wireless Headset. To top it all off, the software will be free to download.
So all of you people out there with the new Gran Turismo and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite will be able to play each other in the comforts of your living rooms. As for me I will be getting out Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness and purchasing Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days in hopes that there are others out there to throw people at.

Atlus usually has great taste when it comes to what games they publish. With Demon’s Soul being their first PS3 game, they have now chosen their next game to publish. 3D Dot Game Heroes, which they have already announced will be available for the PS3 in May 2010, will cost only $39.99!
A long, long time ago, the Dark King Onyx brought an age of darkness upon Dotnia Kingdom. Only by the bravery of a hero with a legendary sword was Onyx sealed in an orb, restoring peace to the world. But Fuelle, a powerful Dark Bishop, has stolen the orb, and with it, peace. Dotnia requires a hero once more! Can you live up to the legend?
I don’t know about you, but that sounds awfully similar to some action-adventure games I played when I was young. You can check out some screenshots and game features after the jump.

Modern Warfare 2 is almost upon us, and to sedate the wanting Infinity Ward has released the official launch trailer. It features Eminem dropping beats for the trailer and no dedicated servers. Be warned though: the trailer may contain some pretty awesome spoilers. You can check it out after the jump.

I think you will all agree with me that getting killed by randomly tossed grenades sucks. World Series participant and Game 3 pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies Cole Hamels also agrees. He even goes the distance to even label the people that throw those grenades as “pussies” in the newest MW2 promotional video. You can check out the video after the jump while I play through MW’s singleplayer story.

Since Josh is some sort of evil dictator, he’s making me (ME of all people) post this series of interviews conducted by Gametrailers on various elements of the upcoming Modern Warfare II. It covers some info about the game’s single and multiplayer aspects, but mainly reveals elements to the series’ new Spec Ops mode.
A very intriguing 21 minutes, if I do say so myself. Hit the jump for video.

And the beat goes on in rhythm games, this time featuring the masters of the spin in the upcoming game DJ Hero by Free Style Games and Activision. The game is coming out October 27th, and with the release date rather soon, Activision has been kind enough to show the opening trailer. It features the deft beats Genesis by Justice and Fix Up, Look Sharp by Dizzee Rascal. The mix sounds pretty tight, and I’m looking forward to playing this game some day. Enjoy the moving pictures after the jump.
